Practical Solutions for Scarborough–Rouge Park
Scarborough–Rouge Park deserves strong local representation that listens to residents, respects taxpayers, and focuses on delivering the services our communities rely on. My priorities are based on practical solutions, responsible spending, and putting residents first.
View Full Platform →AFFORDABILITY FIRST
The cost of living continues to put pressure on families, seniors, homeowners, tenants, and small businesses. City Hall must recognize that every increase in property taxes, fees, transit costs, and other municipal charges ultimately affects household budgets.
I will work to:
- Keep property tax increases reasonable and affordable.
- Review City fees and charges with affordability in mind.
- Protect essential frontline services while identifying unnecessary spending.
- Support practical solutions that increase the supply of housing while respecting existing communities.
- Advocate for programs and services that help seniors, families, youth, and vulnerable residents.
My commitment: Before asking residents to pay more, City Hall should demonstrate that it is using the money it already receives responsibly.
RESPECT YOUR TAX DOLLARS
Residents work hard for their money, and they deserve to know that every tax dollar collected by the City is being used responsibly.
I believe City spending must be transparent, accountable, and focused on results. When projects experience major delays or cost overruns, taxpayers deserve clear explanations and corrective action.
I will push for:
- Greater scrutiny of City spending and contracts.
- Clear reporting on major project costs and timelines.
- Stronger oversight of cost overruns and unnecessary expenditures.
- Investment in core services and infrastructure that directly benefit residents.
- Regular reviews to identify efficiencies without compromising essential services.
My commitment: Every public dollar should have a purpose, and every major expenditure should be accountable to the people paying for it.
SAFER, STRONGER COMMUNITIES
Everyone deserves to feel safe in their home, neighbourhood, parks, transit system, and public spaces.
Community safety requires effective policing, prevention, youth engagement, mental-health supports, and strong relationships between residents and frontline services.
I will advocate for:
- Stronger community-based policing and visible neighbourhood presence.
- Adequate resources for frontline police officers and emergency services.
- Greater attention to traffic safety, dangerous driving, and neighbourhood speeding.
- Investments in youth recreation and prevention programs.
- Better coordination between police, community organizations, schools, and City services.
- Safe and well-maintained parks, streets, transit stops, and public spaces.
My commitment: Public safety must remain a core responsibility of municipal government while we also address the underlying issues that contribute to crime and disorder.
RESPONSIBLE GROWTH
Toronto needs more housing, but growth must be properly planned.
New development affects roads, transit, schools, parks, sewers, community centres, traffic, and other local infrastructure. Residents should have a meaningful voice when major changes are proposed for their neighbourhoods.
I will advocate for:
- Meaningful community consultation before major development decisions.
- Infrastructure improvements that keep pace with population growth.
- Appropriate housing options for families, seniors, newcomers, and future generations.
- Better coordination between development, transit, roads, schools, parks, and community services.
- Protecting neighbourhood quality of life while accommodating responsible growth.
- Holding developers and the City accountable for commitments made to communities.
My commitment: Growth should be planned with residents, not imposed on them.
ACCOUNTABILITY AT CITY HALL
Toronto undertakes major infrastructure and capital projects involving billions of taxpayer dollars. Residents deserve projects that are properly planned, transparently managed, and delivered as promised.
I will push for:
- Clear budgets and timelines before major projects begin.
- Regular public reporting on project progress.
- Greater scrutiny when projects exceed their approved budgets.
- Clear explanations for significant delays and cost increases.
- Stronger contract management and oversight.
- Greater accountability from City departments, agencies, and contractors responsible for delivering projects.
When projects fall behind schedule or costs increase substantially, City Council should ask difficult questions and demand answers.
My commitment: City projects should be delivered on time, on budget, and with clear accountability.
TRANSIT THAT WORKS FOR EVERYONE
Scarborough residents need reliable transit, but they also need practical solutions to traffic congestion.
People should not have to wait excessively for a bus, make unnecessary transfers, or spend significantly longer commuting because transit service has not kept pace with the community.
I will advocate for:
- More frequent bus service on busy Scarborough routes.
- Better bus routes and connections between neighbourhoods, schools, employment areas, GO stations, and major TTC routes.
- Service improvements in communities experiencing long waits or overcrowding.
- Better coordination between TTC, GO Transit, and other transportation services.
- Practical traffic-management measures that move more people efficiently.
- Converting Red Lanes into HOV lanes so buses and qualifying high-occupancy vehicles can use the available road space more efficiently and help reduce congestion.
Scarborough needs transportation policy that recognizes that residents use transit, cars, bicycles, walking, and other ways to get around.
My commitment: Build a transportation system that works for everyone—not just one mode of travel.
SUPPORTING FAMILIES & SENIORS
Strong communities are built around families, young people, and seniors. As our population grows and changes, City services must keep pace.
I will advocate for:
- More accessible recreation and community programming.
- Expanded youth programs and after-school opportunities.
- Programs that keep young people engaged in sports, recreation, arts, and community activities.
- Better access to community spaces for local organizations.
- Programs that help seniors remain active, connected, and involved in their communities.
- Accessible City services and recreational opportunities for people of different ages and abilities.
- Continued investment in parks, playgrounds, sports facilities, libraries, and community centres.
My commitment: Scarborough–Rouge Park should be a community where children can grow, families can thrive, and seniors can remain active and connected.
MY APPROACH TO CITY HALL
I believe public service starts with listening. Residents should be able to reach their Councillor, understand how decisions are being made, and know that their concerns are being represented at City Hall.
I will bring :
- A practical approach focused on affordability, accountability, community safety, responsible growth, better transportation, and stronger neighbourhood services.
Most importantly: I will never forget who City Hall works for.
